An independent film about Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, beloved by his nation's working class and a tough-as-nails, quixotic opponent to the power structure that would see him deposed. Two independent filmmakers were inside the presidential palace on April 11, 2002, when he was forcibly removed from office. They were also present 48 hours later when, remarkably, he returned to power amid cheering aides. Their film records what was probably history's shortest-lived coup d'état.

Special Guest Peter Lackowski: A two term Burlington City Councilor and retired school teacher, Peter has written and studied extensively about Venezuela. He first visited the country on a 'reality tour' with Global Exchange, and then traveled independently, interviewing people and absorbing the culture and spirit of the country. Peter considers his principal occupation to be “following the developments in Venezuela” and will lead a discussion following the film. please click here.To read one of Peter's recent articles: Is Chavez a Dictator?please click here.
